How Old is that Potato?

We simply spent the hour going through the Africa packet, so I hope everyone recharged.

I also showed everyone my "Fun Box of Throwable Objects" after some spirited lack of work. Then Audrey M. asked the question that titles this post after I showed everyone the rock shaped like a potato that made a LOUD noise when dropped on the desk. Audrey believed it to be a REAL potato. Wow.

  1. Ah yes.. but that just further proves the idea that Romo could totally get away with throwing it at kids, and when anyone in power begins to question it: "Oh, it's just a potato, it won't hurt 'em.."

    Ha... yeah right...

  2. Aaaaaaaaaahhhh. I started laughing again when I read the post. That was so funny.
The best thing is that later on she started defending herself, stating her reasoning for why she thought it was an actual potato.

  5. I want everyone to know the truth about the chimp attack so I am NOT taking down the link. The whole story is sad and. I believe it is a teacher's responsibility to not profess his/her opinion in an effort to encourage and welcome students to have their own. In this case, I want you all to know how saddened I am at the terrible suffering the two victims have and will forever suffer.
    1. The chimp should NEVER have been raised in that environment. It was a wild animal and did not deserve to be stabbed, shot, and die from violence in its cage.
    2. The woman who was horrendously attacked deserves all manner of support and sympathy in her efforts to recover.
    3. The emotional loss suffered by the chimp's owner needs to be respected, but this entire event can serve as a lesson in not just want, but need.
    4. Only Audrey could EVER get away with that question and still have my respect. I only wish everyone had her confidence and innocence to speak what was/is on his/her mind. I love it.
    5. Lastly, wild animals NEED to be respected...even 9th graders, who are BELOW dung beatles.
Anyone want to develop a "respect chart," knowing that half-Mexican, 30ish teachers are at the top?
Oh, and nothing has yet to defeat the look on Harrison's face when his desk "fell" a whopping 6 inches, or Adnan's "questions" about certain terminology used in society.

I just watched the 4 minute 911 call and it was so sad!!
How did the chimp become all crazy like that?
Is it just in their instincts??
