The Dark Continent

You can get a jumpstart on studying for Friday's map test by going here. I want this blog to be a benefit to those who check regularly. We spent Friday's class going over the Ch. 21 work. I also mentioned that I'd provide a link to the program that provides nets for Africa. I believe you can see it here. Enjoy your weekend - and would someone please post a comment explaining the "Dark Continent" reference?

  7. With all the civil wars countries are dividing all the time in Africa. We are just memorizing information that is ever changing. And check out this great Ghandi quote, "Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed."

  8. Brandon - Excellent Point. But the PROCESS of learning these is important. SO is having the ability to know that Zaire no longer exists.

  9. My family hosted a man from the DRoC for a year. He spoke 11 languages including English, and said that this was a small amount. He new wife speaks 15 languages and is learning to speak Spanish. Just an interesting cultural observation about the need to know many of the tribal languages.
