I saw The Hurt Locker immediately after G.I. Joe last summer and fell asleep...I saw it again this afternoon at the Hopkins Mann, awake, and enjoyed the hell out of it.
I liked it - even though it was the result of the following pitch: Dances with Wolves in fern Gully. But I LOVED the visuals. And even though I could predict what was going to happen, the film made me feel. That is the key for me enjoying a film now. It also justifies one of my core beliefs: war is stupid. It is the product of shame, ignorance, miscommunication, greed, or a combination of those things. I HATE it. Such a waste.
Avatar was a worthless pile of cliche. I find it appalling that a movie that perpetuates romanticized noble savage/white messiah stereotypes can be that well-received.

ReplyDeleteAvatar was terrible.
I'll be going to see Avatar Tues after school - and paying the extra $4 for 3D. I hope I don't get sick.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it. I wish I had. I was just...bored.
