From the vibe I picked up in the room (HIGH TENSION!!!!), I achieved my initial goal. You were supposed to feel some pressure...that's what finals are all about. Especially for a college-level course. But know that we covered HALF of what we should have, so next quarter's exam will be TWICE as FUN!!! I hope you realized that, while it was difficult, the exam was still fair. I only added about 6-7 "deep reading" questions and simply used the more complex wording of questions used in previous formal assessments.
I SHOULD have the exams scored and entered by tomorrow afternoon. If there is a problem with your grade, shoot me an email and/or stop by on Friday morning. Final grades must be entered by Sunday.
Leave a comment about the exam. Too hard? Too easy? What did you do to prepare? Did you use the website for T/F, MC, or vocab help (flash cards)? Share your experience(s) so I, and your peers, know how to better prepare you for the next BIG ONE (Unit III Exam is scheduled for Mon 11/23).
Now go breath and get Ch. 8 read BEFORE Tuesday.
RT1&2 is the ROMOTHINK we did with the note cards. We'll be doing many more next quarter.

I thought today's test was difficult, but I was surprised that I wasn't overwhelmed by the amount of questions. I really expected to be stressed out and not finish in time, but I had some time to spare at the end.
ReplyDeleteIt should take you only 30 seconds to answer a typical MC question. I like to budget 45 seconds for additional processing and allow students who may need that extra bit to decipher the question and/or answers. Wait until I assign you a 2-minute speech...it's a lot longer than you think.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think the test was any harder than the other ones we've had.. it was just bulkier. To prepare I reread all of my class notes, and played around on the website, answering fill in the blanks, MC, and T/F questions. I looked at the flashcards too...hopefully it paid off!
ReplyDeleteTwo-minute speech.... on what?
ReplyDeleteI thought that the test was very fair, like Phoebe said, just bigger. It seemed like a very fair(sorry to use that word again) assesment what we've learned. To study I reread/skimmed the chapters, hope it worked
ReplyDeleteIt was mildly difficult for me. From this test, I learned the importance of really reading the book. Although the sites help, I think it's good to probably have note cards to gain finer details on the chapter's vocabulary and main ideas.
ReplyDeletei thought the test was a piece of cake. I cant wait to see that fresh "A" posted on my grade. Romo work on making those tests more challenging.
