Out Again
I'm out again for Tuesday. My fever broke this morning and we're supposed to wait 24 hours until returning to work, so I am taking another day just to make sure I don't share bad germs and come back Weds with some actual energy. You'll have the Ch. 7 quiz on Tuesday - use the answer sheets, do NOT write on the test booklet, 25 mins from start to when you have to turn it in - NO CLICKERS!!! The sub will go over the answers with you (after all answer sheets have been turned in), but no data. We'll look at Ch. 11 on Weds and Thurs with the quiz on Monday since we are in the computer lab on Friday. The Unit II Exam (6,7,11) will be on Wednesday, followed by analysis on Thursday (with a possible peek at you Q1 final grade). I am out next Tuesday so I'll probably just have you watch another Stossel segment - what did you think of Greed? I will make it this week's forum...if I get the energy to do it. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

John Stossel was greedily aping Freddie Mercury's look. HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!
ReplyDeleteI doubt Stossel has anywhere near the same level of showmanship as Mr. Mercury.
ReplyDeleteyou have swine flu.
ReplyDeleteHe forgot to mention that the LOVE of money is the ROOT of all EVIL. That war needs money and greedy people use war to profit. The Rothschilds first made it big off the bond and gold markets in the Napoleonic wars. When greed comes, then comes fear, then economic volatility, then conflict. Greed is no good. And the definition of greed is to make as much money as possible, not to provide for ones self interest.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little outdated, but i think it still rang true. I wonder what stossel thinks about the economy these days...?
ReplyDeleteVERY outdated, but the concept is important - also, from a historical sense, it was produced in the 90's when the economy was strong. I'd love to know his take on the same concept today. BTW - his argument was that self-interest DOES benefit society as a whole. And no, I do NOT have swine flu. oink oink. whoa - where did that come from?
ReplyDeleteI hate all these awful silly flus.
ReplyDeletechirp chirp. Just reminiscing the bird flu.
HEALTHY self interest does benefit society. But greedy minds creates problematic binds. The "invisible hand" scene showed that well. When people gained some reason and said, "Hey, let's get smart and look out for ourselves", they got more money...
Remember SARS? That's a deep cut virus right there.
ReplyDeleteThat was actually a little scary...
ReplyDeletebut remember the horse flu?! (turns around from ghostly "neighs")
You know what is going to eventually kill all of us, right? Penguin Flu. Or perhaps Bunny Flu. It'll end up being a morphed virus from some cute, innocent animal. Or some super bug impervious to all of our antibiotics due to the constant overuse of antibiotic cleansers and drugs over the years. Eventually, all society will break down with complete anarchy reigning supreme...it'll be up to each and every one of you to help develop, implement, and guarantee a working government...so get back to studying.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm pretty sure there's a section in Chapter 7 about bunny apocalypse.
ReplyDeleteYes the video was outdated, but still interesting and valid. Ted Turner is the coolest guy ever. A little crazy, but he's the most interesting billionaire. Always been intrigued by him.
ReplyDeleteRomo, we had a different sub first hour, because the real one wasn't there yet. Our sub was Keith. He's awesome. When you're out, he should be the one to call.
ReplyDeleteJust thought I'd give some feedback on the sub...
Hope you're feeling better.
hope you feel better romo=)
ReplyDeleteTed Turner is definitely crazy, but he had a very interesting take on wealth/greed and he does incidentally own the best restaurant in the world- Ted's Montana Grill. SO great, I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteTed Turner is a GOD among men. Ever hear of Turner Classic Movies? yeah, my life blood. His generosity and fervor could teach all a little something. Glad he walked off the interview. I wonder if Stossel would be asking the same questions now?! Perhaps he could have a sit down with Madoff and encourage him to be greedy.I Wonder what the RATINGS would be?
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love Nolan Savage's comment
