I have opened the portal to your grades now - and wow - they are scattered with many more Consonants, Disappointments, and Fudge...that is to be expected since the only thing really there is the first quiz. And that was a difficult one for many since you had no idea what you were facing. There were five choices instead of the usual four - get used to it because that is the AP method. There were also some very specific questions from detailed parts of the textbook. We need to make the path clear, yet also clearly delineate between the As and the Bs...even the Bs and the Consonants. So study up on the next chapter (2: The Constitution) and shoot me an email within 24 hours telling me which President did NOT swear on the Bible...
But before you do that, watch below and make a comment about who you think messed up...and does/did it really matter? (only watch the first couple of minutes):

I think Obama kinda fudged that up, but it doesn't really matter... He is president after all.
ReplyDeleteRoberts switch around "faithfully" in the sentence. And it was evident that Obama knew the oath beforehand. Obama was ahead of himself and Roberts recognized the mistake. It wasn't a big deal. They both contribute to the moment of the "faith-exec- uh" . It didn't take away from the meaning.

ReplyDeleteRoberts messed up! It DOES matter! Obama had to be inaugurated (given the oath) a second time in a private ceremony!
ReplyDeleteYEah I heard the same thing (responding to clare)
ReplyDeleteRoberts messed up and if he did have to retake the oath then it does matter.
ReplyDeleteuhhh yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with Clare. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/obama_inauguration/7843881.stm
ReplyDeleteOk, so I think that Roberts was the one who messed up but it doesn't really matter too much, I mean it was sort of funny and I dont think people need to make a big deal about it. People mess up all the time when they talk. I guess it officially matters because he had to do it over again later, but really its all good.
ReplyDeleteMy point of view says that Robert's messed up because he changed the placement of the word "faithfully" the second time he read it. But i wouldn't make it that big of a deal because he was able to proceed and not stop to do it again.
ReplyDeleteObama looked nervous... they both messed it up but Obama is the reason for that. People still are obsessed with him so it doesn't matter although I'm sure some opposers were pleased to see him screw up his very first job of the presidency. I'm surprised Obama didn't repeat "so help YOU god"... at least he got that one right
ReplyDeleteI think they both messed up, but I think Roberts more so. It was hard to tell but oh well Obama is already president anyway, even though I'm sure to the ones who didn't want him as president, it was probably amusing.
ReplyDeleteI think Robert's messed up because he messed up on the word "faithfully", but i still think they both sort of messed up.
ReplyDeleteI'd say CSPAN screwed up because that audio is terribly distorted. Amateurs.
ReplyDeleteAll of you are wrong. Obama is not an American by birth thus he should not have taken the oath in the first place!
ReplyDeleteP.S. It was also Lincoln's Fault,I saw a video on Youtube giving evidence that he cursed his own family bible so that when Obama got elected he would screw up.
ReplyDeleteThey both messed up. Obama's error (reciting before Roberts finished) minor in comparison to Roberts', and Roberts' putting "faithful" in the wrong order. But who cares? It doeSN'T matter.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Clare, I think Obama paused because he realized that Roberts has said it wrong. but it matters because if that hadn't happened there wouldn't be so much unnecessary controversy about it.
