We started off with a ROMOTHINK: Would you lie, cheat, and/or steal to earn more money in your career? My point is/was to get you to think about WHY you are in school, and WHY you are tasked with BBB (Boring Busy Bookwork). Sometimes it's to get a learning SKILL like reading, finding, analyzing, interpreting, presenting, etc. Yet other times it's simply to have a guide from which to study "things" you should know.
I segued into a discussion/lesson on calories and access to health. We have enough food in the world to satisfy ALL NEEDS, and there is even plenty of energy to satisfy MOST WANTS. Yet we are still full of "Haves" and "HAVE-NOTS." WHY? Is it because of liars, cheaters, and thieves? I doubt it, but the concept of deserving more and then taking it does play a part...
Sometimes when you lie, cheat, and/or steal - you end up not only hurting yourself, but others you love and return that concern for you. Don't ever forget that, at some point, we are all in this together.

ReplyDeleteI think otherwise. The problem is that our system(s) mean that people DON'T have to lie cheat or steal to get more than someone else. They can do it through 'legal/honest' means. Which just takes out a lot of the moral outrage about the whole thing. Disgusting really.
Hey Romo!
ReplyDeleteIm not going to be at school on Monday and Tuesday due to Sections for Golf.
Is there any way I could take the test wednesday?Or some time after school wednesday or thurdsday?
Thanks again, and Im really sorry I wont be able to make it.
Hey Romo, for the rivers on the bodies of water test, is it going to look like the U.S map with rivers that you gave us? Or is it going to just be the rivers that you are on the list? Because I can't tell the rivers apart on the U.S map.
ReplyDeleteRomo, is the Si river actually the Xi river because I can't find the Si river anywhere.
ReplyDeleteSi = Xi, yes. Regarding the Water Test, there will be NUMBERS on the maps. The MAPS will be of the US and Hemispheres (2). You will write your answers ON PAPER AND THEN enter them into the clickers. IF you can't tell the rivers apart on the US map, you may have difficulty passing. That's why we S-T-U-D-Y.
ReplyDeleteHey Romo, that Minnesota Population Density packet is still due on Monday, right? I was just wondering how we should shade in the most densely populated areas (circles with pennies?)
ReplyDeleteWe'll discuss it in class...
ReplyDeleteis there going to be 30 or 50 questions on the test?
