Hah - got two of them in there! I may cut the blog next quarter - I am getting comments and emails asking me questions that are UNnecessary if you follow the blog. Assignments, upcoming activities/tests, etc. are always posted here. Please do not waste your time - or mine by asking me things you can find out by simply going back and re-reading the blog.
Final exam - Thursday. What will it cover? Maybe the world nations. Definitely NOT the bodies of water. Maybe it will be about MDGs. Perhaps there will be some things about Darfur. Everything from the past quarter is fair game. See - that is what a "final" is about...it measures whether or not you have been keeping pace with class expectations. A "final" should not be about learning for the first time. A study guide should not be necessary. You have the blog, assignments, etc. Use them.
IN class today, we are watching a film about Ghana and how difficult it is to move from undeveloped to developing to developed nation status. Is the IMF bad? What about the World Bank? The video was partly financed by a religious group, but the questions asked by the main participant (Robert Beckford) are valid. If you missed class or want to share it, go here.
Feel safe and secure? Not anymore...

ReplyDeleteNOOOOOO romo don't cancel the blog next quarter!!! I love this thing I use it all the time. It's a huge help with tests and assignments and any questions we have because its always available and we can get answers from you and other students. It has been a LIFE SAVER for me in this class. PLEASE don't cancel it. I beg you.
ReplyDeleteRomo's having fUN with pUNs, and maybe it's fUNgus, he should go hang out with attila the hUN. They could go rUN in the sUN,but be careful so you don't become UNbalenced and trip on a bUNny and fall on the groUNd and have chipmUNks tear out your eyes, and force you to be commUNists and cut goverment fUNds
ReplyDeleteFor more UN words go to http://www.morewords.com/contains/un/
wow that video was so scary to think that someone could do that and that even though people have protection that they can still get a virus.
ReplyDeleteJust ignore the stupid people who ask questions. The blog is an overall help.
ReplyDeleteSince we were focusing on Darfur earlier this quarter, I think it is relevant to mention what happened several weeks ago when the International Criminal Court finally issued an arrest warrant to Pres. al-Bashir. Apparently he retaliated by expelling a good deal of peacekeeping groups from Darfur.
ReplyDeleteI am certainly no expert on it, but I thought it might educational/interesting to bring up this particular piece of news.
Excellent point. It leads to the question of how much authority an intl org should have over "internal" national matters. Furthermore...we all know it would be over with enough pressurre from china-that bastion of human rights
ReplyDeleteI advocated throwing him out in my Darfur paper
ReplyDeleteAnd who is Miss Sars? The last post (UNpopular Vision) was kinda weird.
ReplyDeleteCould the test possibly have the Ghana video we watched yesterday?
ReplyDeleteokay im sorry if this is one of the stupid questions you were talking about but i really dont understand.
ReplyDeleteokay so for the policy paper do we have to talk about all eight MDGs? because in my country there are two that are a really big deal and i was going to focus on them but then i wasnt sure if we had to have something about all the goals in our paper. please dont stop the blog because i asked this.
