You'll need to start bring your books every day. Yeah, I know - but people want us to do more "traditional" geography. To start, we'll explore Africa.
Grades arrived at home. I am sure some of you are either ecstatic or disappointed. If you want to discuss your final grade, please come see me and we can always try to figure things out.
We are going to look more closely at Africa for the next couple of weeks. We are exploring how the continent was carved up by European powers without consideration of ethnic groups. In class, you created your own, more "natural" African nations. By following Ethnic, physical, and historical maps, you hopefully solved the border problems (yeah, right).
Tomorrow, you will have more time to finish your New Africa map. I'll also have a graphic organizer for you to complete. The skiers can pick it up in the morning. And do not forget about the Africa map test on Friday! As of now, there are now capitols...so be good!

Just because you said that he will probably make us do capitals. "Being good" includes not pointing that kind of stuff out. Either that or her purposely made a typo to prove (in the future) that he never definitively told us or said that there were going to be capitals on the test. Mr. Romo never said he was a nice guy, so expect that he might do stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, why can we still post things anonymously?

ReplyDeleteThis is a good practice site too. My favorite is Level 4 of the countries section. It really helped me learn exactly where the countries are.
Typo. NO CAPITOLS! Also, I believe I changed the comment posting status.
ReplyDeleteOkay I would like to know who wants to do traditional geography. Like really? Ick. No.
ReplyDeleteI like what we did before waaaaaaaay better.
When I grow up, I do not need to know what the capital of Zimbabwe is. I can look it up on google if it's absolutely killing me, but otherwise no. I do need to understand government/econ stuff. Not that i enjoyed that unit or we need to continue with that...but i liked having our class discussions and romothinks and doing stuff beyond freshmen geography ya know?
I think a lot of people agree.
P.S. Will Plunkett if you see this pleaaaase bring that extra copy of "Things fall apart" tomorrow. I really need it.
